(that's New Kids On The Block for those of you who were born after 1994). 14 years later the OG boy band have recorded another CD and currently on tour. granted, i wound up getting the tickets (bc my uncle has a platinum amex card which granted us access to better seats..can we say section 5 on the floor!). i remembered to having liked them back in the days. i remember we had to be all clandestine about it bc we were deemed to old to still like them when they obviously disbanded. (jr/sr year of hs). i remember having the tapes (i think?) but i must have thrown them out somewhere down the line (how blasphemous!). but MY GOD. like totally OH-EM-GEE, i was so totally amused last nite.

not only was 99% of the the audience female members but holy crap, i've never seen women go so crazy before. i dont even think a Christian Louboutin sample sale will solicit that kind of effect. my gf's were also part of the majority who went bonkers. (the remaining 1% were gay or men who were dragged by the gf/wife). it got to a point where one "woman" took off her top to get "facetime" on the jumbo-tron. she was in her bra for all of MSG to see. it was definitely an interesting experience...of the 6 of us that went, 5 of them are with sore throats. guess who doesn't have the sore throat. yup, you guessed it, ME. i think i spent 50% of the time looking around at all the people in the audience.

lesson learned? gentlemen, if NKOTB go on tour again, i suggest you go with your female friends. SOOOOO many women. i know, i know...you might not like the way some of the fans turned out with age. HAHAHA.

some pics:

afterwards, i went to go sleep at my cousin's place(she did not attend the concert with me). this morning, she made me breakfast to go (breakfast bagel sandwich). *sniff* my lil cousin is all grown up. ps: my lil cousin is turning 24. something wrong with that picture huh? the 30 yr is going to a NKOTB concert and the 24 yr old is making the 30yr old breakfast. hahaha

celebrity sightings

last thurs i was coming off the E train at Port Authority headed toward the bus terminal to go home. I ran into my gf on the walk to the terminal and we stopped to talk. we wound up talking for like 40 min..but in the process, we saw dylan mcdermott. he looks exactly the way he does on tv. he was wearing a leather jacket, dark jeans, aviators and he was carrying a man bag. but that's as far as good he looked. there's a section to exit that's kinda like hole in the wall and it only has those vertical turnstiles to exit. not the typical ones you see that has the horizontal turnstiles at the waist. anyway, he sees the exit and walks over to get out but....he doesnt know how!! it's an obscure exit and not too many people use that one. by this time, my gf recognized him and was like "you're so beautiful" (mind you she's almost yelling this out at him). people by this point have recognized him. he doesnt know what to do or how to get out, so he kinda stands off to the side to see how other people are getting out and then after figuring it out, proceeds to exit. it was quite amusing.

then up in boston this wknd, hubs and i went to check on filene's basement on newbury (supposedly filene's started in boston...btw, it sucks up there). and we see some girl with a dog stuffed in her zip-up sweatshirt. hubs goes, isn't that the gilmore girl? so i look over and sure enough...it's alexis bledel. we saw her on friday, i could not think of her name until yesterday. i didn't want to cheat and use the internet.

so yeah, in the midst of all the rain...that was my wknd.

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

i saw kelly cutrone late last nite in front of landmarc tribeca...she stood right next to me. she turned around and looked at me, she looked familiar and so i was like "hi." my company just presented during fashion week and so i saw allllllll these fashion people and thought i saw her from the show...(mind you i've been running off of 4-5 hours a sleep per nite since sat nite and like 12+ hour work days). so she says "hi." back to me and then i realized why she looked familiar to me...it's kelly cutrone from people's revolution (aka whitney port and lauren conrad's boss on the hills).

speaking of our presentation, i've never been surrounded by sooooooo many frigging skinny, tall ass girls. they gots some big feet...i seriously cannot wait for this week to be over.

i don't get it

For some reason unknown to me, i've been having a lot of people asking me for directions lately. i don't know if it's bc i work in soho now and there a whole mess of tourists down here. i dont mind giving you directions if i don't have headphones in my ears and i'm the only person standing there. but lately it's like i'm listening to my ipod, reading a book waiting for the train and i'll have some tourist come up to me asking directions. so i've been kinda ignoring them. they stand there, walk away with this face like "ew no need to be rude" but you know what? YOU are being rude bc YOU are disturbing me from my music and book. so i started looking around me to see if they ask someone else, and you know what, they don't!! and what's even worse is that a lot of these people around me don't even have headphones in their ears. i don't understand it. boggles my mind.

oh and you know what else i dont get? why people walk real slow once they get off an escalator when they know there's a line of people behind them. they cause pile ups coming off the escalator. or those who stop and look around as soon as they step foot off the escalator/train/elevator and there are a lot of people behind them. i especially dislike people who take their sweet ass time walking to and inside port authority. i don't care if your ass is in no rush to get home, but man i really want to beat the lines and get home asap.

so. if you are guilty of dilly-dallying in front of the escalator when you get off, please get the eff out of my way. thank you.

*i'm semi-joking if i sound really angry to you. it's supposed to be half in jest. but i do admit it annoys me.

holy smokes batman!

i saw christian bale last nite on the way home. in front of the ny times building.

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

so most of you should know that i take the bus to commute into the city for work. for most of my working years, i didn't have to take PT for my commutes to and from work. the PT thing didn't really start until february or so. i admit, it has it's good moments (read getting to sleep a bit more on the way in). but for the most part it's more eh~ than yay~. it's cold, some people decide to talk loudly and prevent you from napping, some people (who have to stand) keep knocking into you when you happen to sit in an aisle seat (it's much colder sitting in a window seat), so on and so forth.

so i was having dinner with some friends this past wknd and well, we didnt exactly start out on the topic of choice commuting methods (we were actually talking about obesity). and well, i dunno...maybe it's bc i'm from nyc and all but for the most part, dont you think that most ny'ers are in a rush to get somewhere (except tourists). my last job detailed that i had to go meet designers with various companies all over the city. and more often than not, things were obviously time sensitive. i'm digressing, but my point is..that i'm in a rush to get somewhere and just bc YOU are not, does not mean that no one else is. i realized that the worst time of day to be on the streets (in a rush to get somewhere) is lunch. OMG don't you have an hour for lunch. why are you taking your sweet ass time to get to the restaurant only to find a huge line and take away the time from actually getting to enjoy your lunch instead of having to wolf it down?

i'm digressing. the point is that a friend of mine pointed out that lately, she's been getting flustered walking behind a "heavier" (read fat) person. anyway so this lead to how "heavier" people should have to purchase 2 seats as opposed to 1. bc well, let's be honest...they do take up more than one seat. it's mean. but it's true. (i apologize if you read this and you are "heavy"). but on the bus, sometimes bus drivers do a count as people come on so they know when there are no more seats left to notify passengers that you'll be standing. well a gf of mine, she got bamboozled! she happened to be the last person to be able to get a seat (as per driver's count). wrong. and you know why? bc a "heavy" person took up 2 seats. so she was the lone person standing on the bus...when in actuality, she could have gotten off and taken the next one and had a seat. this same gf also told me that if she happens to sit in a window seat and there's a aisle seat left (btw, the buses we take are the ones that have 2 seats per section. you know the buses with the bathrooms that we used to take on school trips for extended rides) the "heavy" person will sit on her. ok FINE, she means next to her, but only after she's removed her thigh from under theirs.

her theory is that "heavier" people will tend to look for the skinnier, smaller framed people to sit next to. makes sense. that is how i learned to actually pick who I want to sit next to as opposed to letting someone pick their seat next to me. however, the only problem with aisle seats is if there are people standing and they keep knocking into you with either their elbow/ass/bag. and for some reason, i happen to be the person where there's always someone standing next to me. effing buses. i hate the bus. but it is better than a crowded subway.
